Greek Classic: Public hospital directors without university degree… Next step: hiring witch doctors?

I don’t know if they drink or smoke something, they up there in the government seats, or they just want to serve certain interests, most of all those of their voters and devoted party officials and thus in times there is a hiring stop in the public sector. An attempt to blatant favouritism?

Health Minister Andreas Lykourentzos submitted to Parliament on Friday a regulation according to which the necessary university or technical college degree for public hospital directors and assistant directors would be suspended.

The regulation would be valid until March 31st 2013. That is within one and a half month, the government could replace acting hospital directors with those without degree. It’s an all time Greek classic that governing parties replace public government directors when they come to power.

Nevertheless and before a new international humiliation or the voting on upcoming Thursday, the health minister took the regulation back on Monday evening, after sharp objections by MPs.

Sources close to the Minister of Health spoke about a “wrong version of the draft” and that the regulation would be submitted again in a new wording clarifying the issue.

PS maybe next draft would allow the hiring of witch doctors… Which would be not much unlogical considering the shortages in hospital supplies due to IMF-austerity.
