Greeks keep eating ‘beef’ products with horse DNA…

Frozen meatballs, chicken nuggets and schnitzel, sausages … Greeks keep eating “beef” products containing horse meat, even if they buy them from well-known companies they were supposed to be trust worthy. companies that praise their products in commercials as ‘beef’.

National Greek Food Authority (EFET) tests found horse DNA between 1% and less than 50% in several products made by local companies.

According to EFET statement issued on March 21st 2013, horse DNA was found in products  produced by “Ifantis“, “Nikas” and “T&T Foods”.

EFET ordered the withdrawal of the products from the market.

According to EFET, tests in eight meat samples proved negative on the substance phenylbutazone, a painkiller for horses that is dangerous for humans.

Tests are expected to intensify.

 

 

 

Συγκεκριμένα, ο ΕΦΕT ανακοίνωσε πως ανακαλούνται κατεψυγμένο σουτζουκάκι, κοτομπουκίτσες και σνιτσελάκι που παράγονται από την εταιρεία «T&T Foods Α.Ε.» για την επιχείρηση «Χούτος Catering A.E», προψημένα κατεψυγμένα μπιφτέκια «IFANTIS», που παρασκευάζονται από την εταιρεία «ΥΦΑΝΤΗΣ Α.Ε.», λουκάνικα τύπου Φρανκφούρτης με εμπορική ονομασία «NIKAS ΜΟΣΧΑΡΙ λουκάνικα τ. Φρανκφούρτης», και παριζάκι με εμπορική ονομασία «ΝΙΚΑS ΜΟΣΧΑΡΙ παριζάκι», που παρασκευάζονται από την εταιρεία «Π. Γ. ΝΙΚΑΣ Α.Β.Ε.Ε.».
