The European Commission is confident that re-admission of migrants and Syrian refugees who arrived in Greece after March 2oth 2016 will begin next Monday, April 4th 2016, exactly as it stands of EU-Turkey deal.
AN EU official who spoke to Ajanse France Press under condition of anonymity said that “500 migrants from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Syrians who have not applied for asylum will be send back to Turkey on Monday.” The EU-official did not reveal from which island the re-admission will take place, but it looks like from the islands of Lesvos and Chios that have received the new arrivals.
According to Associated Press, EC spokeswoman Natasha Bertaud said earlier today that “Monday is still a target date to start send-backs, method is being still negotiated.”
Method? Which Method?
According to EU-Turkey deal, it was supposed that the Frontex vessels and/or aircraft would bring back the refugees and migrants to Turkey. So what’s wrong with this method? Some objections raised by Ankara? Or the famous 2,300 EU-staff that has not arrived yet to assist Greece with the whole issue of implementing the deal?
I assume, the 17 Dutch policemen who arrived on Lesvos last week assigned with the duty to accompany the “send-backs” to Turkey have a nice time with sunbathing, the famous Mytilene ouzo and the sardines.
PS More on method, staff ect, we will know by next Monday , I suppose. YIAMAS
