Employees at Greece’s utility Public Power Company earn well. According to data released by PPC for 2015, the company spent in total of 880,268 million euro for the salaries of 18,356 employees.
These figures correspond to an annual cost of €47,955 or else in €3,996 gross per month. euros per month. This is the cost of each employee to the company.
This is the average gross salary at the Greek PPC that includes (salary, benefits, shift allowance, overtime payments.) As PPC-employees have high contributions the net salary is below €2,500.
I do not know, if it makes any sense to publish “average salary” in a company with hierarchic structures and different levels of employees. But …whatever. The data claim so.
The total expense includes also 9 million euro with is the cost of reduced electricity bills the employees pay The reductions corresponds to 493 euro per employee per year, while last year it was 166 euro.
In 2015, the personnel was reduced by 216 people. In 2009, the total number of employees was 23,611. During the last six years a total of 5,255 people left the company [ I suppose, they went into retirement…]
According to Capital.gr, in 2014, the corresponding annual cost per employee was €49, 225 euro or €4,102 gross per month.
We notice the amazing salary decrease of 2.57%.
PS no need to comment here on the noble class of PPC workers and their powerful union. Right.
Wonders will never cease!
Of course it does not make sense to talk about average salary in a highly hierarchical structure. Still you do so. And you make a point out of it…
