US President Barack Obama on Tuesday in a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras congratulated “the Greek government and the Greek people for moving forward to a very challenging process.
“My hope is that given the growth we saw this year, we can build on the process. The reforms have not been easy but have been necessary to boost the competitiveness of the economy… I will continue to emphasize on our view that austerity alone cannot deliver prosperity,” he said and stressed the need for debt relief.
On his part, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said “It is a great honour that you visit Greece during your final Europe tour, giving a special message to the world”, while referring to the economic crisis he said that “Despite the difficulties over the last 5 years, we’re standing strong and will continue”.
US President expressed hope for a sustainable solution for Cyprus issue and his deep appreciation for the compassion the Greek people have shown to the refugees. (ana)
It is indeed a great honor, that the president of a country who’s economy seems to be permanently stagnating in the abyss. should come visit another country, who’s economy is also stagnating in the abyss.
Opa !
There is a difference: the first country stagnates in the abyss because it unlawfully interfered with the affairs of other countries (Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Syria etc); the second country was and still is cheaply betrayed by its leaders who opened the back door to the enemy. The second country was thus conquered and destroyed – a simple matter of aggression followed by treason.
