Men, women and children defied the winter temperatures and took a dive into the cold sea of Pagasitikos Gulf in central Greece. The event took place on Sunday, 1st January.
The swimmers were lucky that the sun was shining after days of snow weather and frost.
In the company of accordion they sang the New Year’s Carols and cut the New Year’s cake Vassilopita with the golden coin.
A swim on the 1st of January is not for everyone.
The men, women and children are members of the Winter Swimmers Association in Volos 🙂
