Turkey claims “military sketch” was discovered on a cell phone of the two Greek soldiers

Turkey claims to have discovered one “military sketch” on one of the cell phones of the two Greek soldiers still in custody in the high security prison of Edirne in Northwestern Turkey.  State news agency Anadolu and newspaper Hurriyet reported Thursday noon that examination on the external memory card of the mobile of one of the Greek soldiers showed “military sketches or plans.

However, neither of the media clarified whether the plans had reference to Turkey or Greece, or which one of the soldiers was the mobile owner.

The two Turkish media report that the entire digital material is being investigated.

An external cell phone memory is a SD car or a USB driver.

The two Greek soldiers had two mobile phones and one crypto phone used for military communication.

According to Anadolu, that the two Greek soldiers were detained on “attempting military espionage” and “entering forbidden military zone.”

Although 22 days have passed the Turkish prosecutor has not completed yet the case file and no charges have been raised.

During this period, the cell phones of the Greek soldiers were examined in special laboratories in Ankara and  according to reports “they were clean.”

A judicial officer visited the soldiers in their cell two days ago and reportedly wanted the PIN of the one or all cell phones.

What is interesting is that the discovery is published while Greece and Cyprus have put pressure on the European Leaders to issue an EU-Summit statement criticizing Turkey for its aggressive provocations in the Aegean Sea and the Cyprus EEZ.

Greek media have reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel has intervened to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the two soldiers.

During a phone conversation between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday morning, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and developments in the East Mediterranean Sea.

Greek media speculate that Tsipras asked Putin to intervene to Erdogan for the two Greek soldiers.

PS what is interesting that Hurriyet and the CNN Turk group, the last Turkish media that kept a kind of independent voice in Turkey, were acquired by Erdogan’s friend, businessman Demiroren beginning of the week.
