Late on Tuesday, taxis drivers decided to launch a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, June 13th 2018. The strike will start at 6 a.m. In an extraordinary meeting the union of taxi drivers decided to launch the strike denouncing that Greece’s “creditors want the return of Uber.”
In a statement the SATA said that the creditors and especially the International Monetary Fund demanded the scrapping of the three-hour contract for rented cars with drivers.
“The creditors threatened to not conclude the fourth review of the Greek program,” SATA said adding that the government and the Transportation Ministry rejected this demand by the creditors.
The strike on Wednesday is just the beginning of a series of strikes, the union said.

Taxi drivers are very right because taxi licenses, taxes, reservations,
insurance etc are very expensive. Also, they are accompanied by a
set of laws that they have to follow, with a high cost for their time and income.
On the other hand Uber drivers pay and follow nothing and
ruin the taxi business worldwide.
