There are currently six Belgian F-16 fighter jets at Araxos air base, near the city of Patras on the Peloponnese. Greek media reported that the Netherlands is to send six F-16 to be stationed there as well.
Aktio air base at Preveza, western Greece, is most likely to be used by NATO AWACS – Airborne Warning and Control System aircraft – to provide surveillance over Libya no fly zone over Libya.
