Greece Full Switchover to Digital Broadcasts to Start Jul 20/2012

Did you buy already the device that will enable you to watch TV broadcasts in Greece also after July 20th 2012? The digital era of Digital TV (DVB-T) begins on that date with the full switchover from analog to digital broadcasts.

While many modern television sets have integrated the necessary device MPEG4, owners of older TV sets would need to buy it extra. And leave at least 35 euro at the shops counters.

Main opposition party, left-wing SYRIZA, urged on Tuesday the Greek television channels to postpone the transition from analog to digital on a later date and/or allow people to keep watching analog due to the harsh economic crisis.

35 euro would feed a family of jobless for at least a week.

  1. I refuse to pay for it. I will download thousands of shows from the internet when I have time and don’t want to watch the trash and endless commericials the Greek TV offers!
