Sources at the office of Greek President, Karolos Papoulias, dismissed media claims that an appointment with former football coach Otto Rehhagel was due in March. Mega TV reported that the presidency stressed that importance of Greek-German relations but that such meetings rather targeted to create impressions than real positive climate.
German tabloid BILD wrote on Wednesday that German Chancellor Angela Merkel had assigned former coach Otto Rehhagel with the mission to boost Greek-German relations and to encourage Greeks. Bild had additionally wrote that Rehhagel would meet the Greek president and the prime minister.
Rehhagel had confirmed the Greek mission.
