…and the Pulitzer goes to three Greek photographers at Reuters

Three Geek photographers members of Reuters Breaking News won this year’s Pulitzer Prize for professional photography with the Pulitzer being the highest prize for journalists and reporters in the USA.

Yannis Behrakis

Team leader Yannis Behrakis and his two younger colleagues Alkis Kosntantinidis and Alexandros Avramidis were awarded for capturing sensational human touch moments of the Refugee Crisis, for bringing the plight of refugees and migrants as they tried to reach the shores of Greece and the European Union.

Behrakis is the Reuters photography team leader for Greece and Cyprus.

Speaking to private STAR TV this morning Behrakis said that he was proud of the team and what it matters is that “we gave a voice to the refugees and migrants.”

For the Competition purposes, the three Greek photographers had submitted a file with 18 pictures in total.
