A 46-year-old foreign national was arrested by police in Pyrgos, following charges by the Fire Service that he accidentally caused a fire in the Frixa area in Andritsena-Krestena, in Ilia Predecture in South-West Peloponnese.
The man will be led before a prosecutor on Tuesday morning, athensnewsagency reported.
The nationality of the man has not been made public, local media gave just his initials with “A.B.”
The fire in Frixa broke out at 16:30 on Sunday.
It is unclear if it was related to several fronts that were burning on Sunday.
Villages were evacuated and fire fighters struggled all night to take the blaze under control.
On Monday morning, thirty-six fire trucks with 90 fire fighters. four Canadairs and a water dropping helicopter were still fighting to take the wildfire under control due to strong winds.
The fires were brought under control by midday Monday.

State broadcaster ERT reported on Tuesday, that the Albanian national was transferred to hospital after he fell unease before appearing to prosecutor on Tuesday morning.
