Greek-Canadian singer Katerine Duska will represent Greece at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. Broadcaster ERT confirmed her participation. The song with which she participates in the contest is yet to be announced.
The Hellenic Broadcaster unanimously decided in favor of the Greek-Canadian singer and songwriter. As members of the Selection Committee explained, she won them over with her unique voice and her music and lyrics, representing a modern trend.
“Her trademark soulful rasp has earned her comparisons to Amy Winehouse,” notes eurovisiontv.
Duska was born in Montreal, Canada and currently resides in Athens, Greece.
In 2015, she released her debut album ‘Embodiment.’ Three years alter, she appeared in a concert at the Concert Hall in Athens performing songs from her album with songs composed by Swedish singer-songwriter Albin Lee Meldau
Expectations are that she will perform an English song in Tel Aviv.
Last year Greece also opted for an internal selection. Yianna Terzi sang the song ‘Oniro Mou’, but for the second time in history, Greece did not reach the final of the Eurovision Song Contest.
