Turkish coast guard harass and threaten Greek fishermen off Kalymnos

Turkish coast guards harassed Greek fishermen and even threatened them with a weapon in the sea off the coast of the island of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese. The Turkish inflatable boat with a couple of men on board approached the Greek fishermen boat dangerously close.

The incident took place on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, when the Turkish air force conducted 91 violations of the Greek air space, with Turkish F-16 to have flown 27 times over Greek islands.

A video broadcast by ANT1 TV shows the fishermen “decorating in French” the Turkish coast guard thus shouting “Go away! It’s not Turkey here, it is Greece!”

The tension was eased when the inflatable Turkish boat withdrew to return to Turkey.

It is the second incident of such kind in less than a month, with another harassment to have occurred more or less in the same area two days after Christmas, on Jan 27, 2019.

Again one of the fishermen uses “prefect French” against the Turkish coast guard.
