Firefighters show their gratitude to doctors, nurses fighting Coronavirus (video)

Members of the fire brigades in Thessaloniki lined up their vehicles outside the designated hospital AHEPA, turn emergency lights and horns on and started to applaud the doctors and the nursing staff fighting the coronavirus. The impressive gratitude went on and on until doctors and nurses came out and applauded the firefighters.

“We are here to offer moral support to medical and nursing staff. It is the least we can do to give them strength until we overcome this crisis, “said Spyros Varsamis, head of the Fire Brigade/Northern Greece.

“It was our proposal to give moral support to all these heroes with masks, to these people who give their best,” said the president of the Central Macedonian Firefighters’ Union, Ioannis Ioannidis.

For his part, the general manager of AHEPA, Panagiotis Panteliadis, publicly thanked the staff of the hospital that is in the middle of the coronavirus crisis. He thanked also the firefighters saying that “it is a recognition of the hospital’s efforts, which, as a reference center for the virus, has been significantly burdened,” reported local media thestival.

The touching event took place just hours after the Minister for Citizen Protection deployed police squads to Evaggelismos hospital in Athens to “deal” with doctors and nurses demanding more protections while they are fighting the coronavirus.
