Greece extends the closure of all educational institutions, such schools, universities and colleges, until May 10, 2020, Education Minister Niki Kerameos announced on Friday.
This extension is for precautionary reasons, in line with the recommendations of the National Commission for the Protection of Public Health against COVID-19.
A joint ministerial decision is to be signed today, Friday.
The schools will remain closed still two weeks after Easter holidays.
The lockdown measures are in effect until April 27.
All measures related to contain spread of the coronavirus are “temporary” in the sense that are initially imposed for a couple of weeks. A reevaluation of the course of the pandemic in the country decides for their extension or lifting.
Greece closed schools of all levels, universities and other educational institutions on March 6, ten days after the first patient was tested positive on coronavirus.
