Three municipalities in Attica have the most coronavirus infections

Three municipalities in Attica, two in south Athens and one in the north of the Greek capital seem to have recorded the most coronavirus infections in the last days. According to media, the municipalities of Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Kifissia are under increased surveillance by the health authorities as more returns of holidaymakers from the islands are expected until the end of the month.

Health authorities in Athens and Attica are on alert as the area almost daily tops the list of new cases, with the all times high registered in the last 24 hours with 141 new infections.

According to private STAR TV:

– In the last few days, 50 cases of coronavirus were detected in the municipality of Glyfada and immediately signaled an alarm to EODY and the General Secretariat for Civil Protection.

– In Kifissia, at the same time, all citizens are invited returning from their holidays to observe the measures.

-Vouliagmeni is another area where a high number of infections is concentrated. In particular, 28 cases were recorded on a single day.

Mayor of Vouliagmeni-Voula-Vari George Konstantelos told Star TV, “at the beginning of the week we were informed by the Civil Protection that there are unusually high cases for our region, which are due mainly to the return from the islands.”

Skai TV reported earlier, that the facility of the Lake of Vouliagmeni was shut down on Monday after one employee was tested positive. The facility will remain closed for disinfection for 48 hours.

The daily bulletins on coronavirus cases issued by the National Health Care Organization EODY do not mention municipalities but merely regional units.
