Sad record for Greece: 13 Covid-19 patients die on a single day

Thirteen Covid-19 patients died in the past 24 hours, Greece’s health authorities announced on Sunday evening It is the highest single-day deaths number since the outbreak in the country in late February. On Saturday, the country hit another all times record with 100 Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals’ Intensive Care Units.

Eleven of the latest fatalities were in the age category over 65 years old and two in the category 40-64. Media reported that one of the deceased was 59-year-old.

On Sunday, death toll reached 449.  A total of 57 Covid-19 patients died in the time October 1-11.

Also in the last 24 hours hours, authorities registered 280 new coronavirus cases. The total cases have reached 22,358

Again, Attica and Athens top the list with 141 new cases.

26 of the new cases were detected among tourists.

COVID-19 MAP

Greek authorities launched an interactive COVID-19 MAP, an online tool where citizens can check the imposed restrictions and measures as well as the risk level of each region across the country.

According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, 3271(14.6%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 9093(40.7%) are related to already known infection case.

55.7% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs is 93 from 100 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them are 26 women. 91.4% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

238 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Thirteen more deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 449.  Of the deceased 169 were women. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 96.4% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 360 from 344 last week.

Total tests since begin of outbreak are 1,423,000.

Tests in the last 24 hours: 9,162 with 3.06% of them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.

Daily growth at +1.4%.

Of the 280 new coronavirus cases, 41 are related to known clusters and 25 were detected at the country’s entry points.

Majority of new cases are recorded in Attica

25 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 1 traveler already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

19 Thessaloniki

15 Ioannina

14 Kozani

Each 5 Heraklio, Corinth

Each 4 Corfu, Lakonia

Each 3 Viotia, Pella, Larissa, Samos, Chios

Each 2  Lesvos, Pieria, Sporades

Each 1  Aitoloakarnania, Evros, Ilia, Thira, Karditsa, Magnisia, Naxos, Rodopi, Serres, Trikala, Chania
