Covid-19 related deaths surpassed the milestone of 5000 on Monday, after 54 people died in the last 24 hours. Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday also 427 new coronavirus cases, while the number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country stands at 407.
Death toll has reached 5,011 and the total cases stand at 140,526.

The mutated Covid-19 strain was detected in travelers who came to Greece from UK. Media reported today that the four are Greek students to returned from UK.
At the live briefing on Monday, health experts from the Health Ministry said that they were “Not concerned about the mutated strain in Greece, as UK authorities were not concerned either.”
Among the new infections are also 4 party-goers who returned to Greece from Dubai where they celebrated the New Year in a more relaxed environment.

According to the official daily bulletin on Monday, 5478(3.9%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 42054 (29.9%) are related to already known infection case.
The remaining infections are without known source.
52.3% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 407 from 421 a day earlier. Their average age is 68, among them are 268 (65.8%) men. 82.1% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
902 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Another 54 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 5011. Of the deceased 2.9738 (59.4%) were men. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 95.5% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
