The Public Prosecutor of Thessaloniki ordered investigation by the internal affairs department of Greek Police after riot policemen were filmed to hit a citizen in the face with the elbow and kick him, while they moved with baton against another one. The incident took place in the center of the city in northern Greece on Wednesday, while student protests were taking place nearby.

The footage recorded by news website grtimes shows a riot police squad walking by and attacking for no obvious reason the citizens standing on the sidewalk. The squad kept on walking without detaining anyone. Something that hints that the Greek “robocops” used violence against citizens because they were young and were standing there.
According to media, the prosecutor investigates the offense of “dangerous bodily harm.” Investigated are three police officers, state broadcaster ERT reported.
The Greek Police has reportedly announced that it is conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
