It is a pleasant break in the middle of a pandemic lockdown that has driven spirits down since beginning of November 2020.
The most brave ones took the opportunity for a refreshing swim at the beach of Glyfada in southern Athens.
Acropolis in snow has been probably the most displayed picture.

But yet the best one on Tuesday morning is of an employee at the Norwegian Embassy in Athens who went to work on her skiers.

In other posts some praised the quiteness in the city of 4-5 million people and took snapshots of Medea’s grip.
You know what’s even rarer than a quiet #Athens?
A snowy Athens!
Sending warm thoughts (and a couple of #snowballs) your way❄️❄️

When it snows in Athens and the metro shuts down, pull out your skis? 😅 https://t.co/KCDtFzmkI2

On the less bright side of the snow, the snow brought Athens public transport to collapse and thousands of households especially in the northern suburbs of Athens had to spend the coldest day of this winter without electricity and heating.
Update on situation:
Still no electricity
Still snowing

Especially the north suburbs are hit by the poweroutage apparently due to trees that gave in to the weight of the snow and fell on electricity poles. In Kifissia alone there are over 3,000 households, the mayor told media, many of them also without water. Some suburbs are without electricity since Sunday evening.
I love your storirs thank you
