The European Parliament will honor iconic Greek resistance fighter and symbol against WWII Nazis, Manolis Glezos. The EP’s Bureau has decided to give a meeting room in the Altiero Spinelli building in Brussels the name “Manolis Glezos.”
The Greek politician who passed away at the age of 98 in March 2020, had served twice as members of the European Parliament
In a press release on Tuesday, the European Parliament announced its decision to name two of its buildings after Clara Campoamor and Sophie Scholl in honour of International Women’s Day.
The Bureau “also decided to rename meeting room SPINELLI 1G2 after the late Manolis GLEZOS, a Greek politician and Member of the European Parliament from 1 July 2014 to 8 July 2015 and from 24 July 1984 to 25 January 1985.”
“He was a major figure in the national resistance against fascism,” the statement said.
