Greece’s health authorities announced on Friday evening, Thursday evening, 2,692 new coronavirus cases and the death of 63 more patients who died of complications of Covid-19. The number of intubated patients has decreased further to 749.

Αt the Live Briefing on Friday, health authorities said that “we haven’t seen the impact of Easter yet” in terms of new infections.
The number of new hospital admissions shows a decrease and coronavirus infections show a relative reduction, however, the experts express concern about the possible increase in cases due to the relaxation of the Easter holidays.
Professor of Pediatrics – Infectious Diseases, Vana Papaevangelou, warned of “outbreaks locally in the coming days due to Easter holidays, due to family gatherings and movement between different areas.
Most infections today are recorded in the ages from 20 to 60 years, age groups that have the biggest mobility,” the professor said.
Active cases throughout the country are below 20,000.
She urged citizens to vaccination and pointed out that one-fourth of those in ICUs are aged 35-55.

Vaccinations
Until May 6: a total of 1,143,030 citizens (10.2% of population) have received both doses.
Record vaccinations number on Wednesday and Thursday with over 100,000 per day.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 358,116 infections (daily change: +0.8%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 53 infections are related to travel from abroad and 1705 to other confirmed cases.
There are 63 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 10,910. Of these, 95.3% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.
A total of 749 Covid-patients – 754 a day earlier -are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 63% are men. 83.2% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.
2,165 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
392 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +5.95%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 391.
The median age of new infections is 44 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 79 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
