Greece’s health authorities announced on Wednesday evening 2,489 new coronavirus cases and 70 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated patients has decreased further to 707.
Doctors and data confirm that the number of hospitalizations has constantly decreased in the last couple of days. Health experts said that there is no more waiting list for intubated Covid-19 patients in need of ICU bed.
Greek authorities announced today the much expected lifting of lockdown restrictions such the the sending of sms to leave home and for shopping. The curfew is shortened and starts half an hour after midnight. Allowed is also the inter-regional travel, however, with some preconditions for travel to/from the islands. Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 369,554 infections (daily change: +0.7%%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 49 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2616 to other confirmed cases.
51.2% of the infected are men.
There are 70 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 11,211. Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.
A total of 707 Covid-patients (-25 patients than yesterday) are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 61.5% are men. 82.9% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.
2,226 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.
318 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +8.16%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 357.
The median age of new infections is 44 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 79 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
