Greece’s new “pandemic”: 10 vaccination centers under scrutiny for fake certificates, tests

This seems to be the new “pandemic” in Greece: fake vaccination certificates and fake documents certifying illness with Covid-19. Authorities have taken under scrutiny at least ten vaccination centers across the country as denouncements keep coming in. Involved seem to be in the majority doctors, nursing personnel and administrative staff that either wanted to avoid the compulsory vaccination ahead of the suspension measure ordered by the Health Ministry and in effect from September 1 or just people who wanted to make a profit out of vaccination-deniers.

The management of Gennimatas Hospital in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, ordered an internal investigation after three health workers and one employee at the administration have been found to have submitted fake vaccination certificates in order to avoid being suspended.

The administrative employee is said to be sister of the employee at the Karditsa health center that was falsely registering dozens of people as vaccinated.

The Health Ministry is determined to combat this new pandemic with heavy fines starting from 5,000 euros.
Covid-patient sample used to avoid vaccination
As if the fake vaccination certificates weren’t enough, there are also reports of some isolated incidents where doctors submitted illness certificates, although their colleagues cannot recall them of being ill. Some even used samples from Covid-patients and presented them as their own.
According to Skai TV, a doctor at the emergency of the hospital of Messolonghi, western Greece, took a sample from a Covid-patient and registered it under the name of her husband, also a doctor at the hospital, who did not want to be vaccinated.
The incident took place in August, ten days before the deadline given by the Health Ministry for the compulsory vaccination of health personnel or face suspension from the work, Skai reported on Wednesday, adding that an investigation against both doctors is ongoing.
Ten vaccination centers under investigation
Speaking to state broadcaster ERT, head of the Transparency Authority Aggelos Mpinis said that 10 vaccination centers across the country are being currently investigated for possibly issuing fake vaccination certificates. He mentioned cases where vaccination registrations took place late at night or where there is a big gap in the number of daily vaccinations.
According to latest reports there are denouncements of fake vaccination certificates also in Aitoloakarnania, Crete and Kozani, Drama and Ikaria.

“There are two colleagues in Ikaria with fake vaccination certificates,” the President of Hospital Workers Union (POEDIN) Michalis Giannakos revealed speaking to Mega TV.

“Fake negative tests” in Santorini

Authorities investigate another case at the hospital of Santorini, where a doctor denounced already beginning of August that “certificates for negative Covid-tests” were issued for people who were neither registered in the hospital system nor at the laboratory.

In a letter to the hospital management, the doctor reportedly denounced that there were certificates of negative Covid-19 tests where the sample was taken in the evening, when the operation hours at until 3 p.m. The certificates that had the hospital logo were sent by an e-mail that does not belong to the hospital at 1 o’ clock in the morning and did not have the unique number for the patient.

It seems that the case was discovered when two tourists from the USA complained that their name on the certificates had typos.

  1. And which bit was a surprise?
Whatever law is introduced anywhere for anything, some will seek to bypass it.
I might be wrong but I understand KTEO cannot issue a certificate outside opening hours?
    Willing to be corrected.

  2. KTG, it is vital for the public to be informed. “Truth” does not belong to one side, every field in science is evolving constantly, it’s not a dogma, even less an absolute religion. There is a huge plurality of opinions from scientists and researchers, including on what is SARS-CoV-2, where it originated, and how to treat its symptoms effictively. Also, when a scientist living in Greece like myself comments on these “vaccine passports” policies being particularly alarming, targeting our most basic freedoms, and the fact that the mRNA therapies are still in experimental phase, there is no need to censor that, since it’s a fact. “The right to information, to free speech and to criticism is one of the most fundamental freedoms of every human being.”-Munich Journalism Charter, 1971, Preamble. How about reading once more the Charter that defines the duties of your profession, then applying it?

    • as said before on this site: KTG website is neither a medical journal nor a forum to discuss pro and contra pandemic/vaccines etc. Take it or Leave it. Simple.
