Greece opens platform for 4th vaccine dose for age group 30-59

Greece’s health authorities opened on Monday morning, 27. June 2022, the online platform for the 4th dose or 2nd booster shot of vaccination against Covid-19 for the age group 30-59. People can book their vaccination appointments there.

The platform emvolio.gov.gr is accessible with the codes of the Taxisnet, one will also need the social security number AMKA.
The platform has already registered the previous vaccines doses of the AMKA holder and suggests a date depending on when one got the last shot of a Covid vaccine and whether one was infected in the meantime.

The platform has already been opened since April 2022 for those over 60years old.

On its statement on Friday, the National Vaccination Committee strongly recommended the 4th dose or 2nd booster shot for those aged over 60.

For immune-suppressed people independent of age the platform has been opened since January 2022.

Vaccination with the 4th dose for 30-59 stirred a heated debated in Greece as the Committee noted on its statement that “there is currently insufficient scientific data on the additional benefit of a second booster dose with existing vaccines.” Several scientists opposed the 2nd booster for young ones, the Committee insisted it is up to everyone to decide how to deal with it.

The public is confused as much as the scientists are.

Note that the 4th dose is not mandatory for any age group.

Greece has been recording an increase of Covid-infections since last week, with daily confirmed cases to be around 12,000 on the average.
