Turkey, Sweden and Finland sign memorandum on Nordic countries’ NATO bids after talks in Madrid on Tuesday evening.
Finland, Sweden to take concrete steps on extradition of terrorists, preventing terrorist propaganda against Turkey.
Turkey committed to agree to support at Madrid Summit invitation of Finland, Sweden to become NATO members.
According to Turkish news agency Anadolu, the memorandum terms oblige Sweden and Finland to a series of commitments.
- Finland, Sweden agree on full cooperation with Türkiye in fight against PKK terror group, its extensions.
- Finland, Sweden have agreed not to impose embargoes on Turkish defense industry, increase cooperation.
- Finland, Sweden to take concrete steps on extradition of terrorists, preventing terrorist propaganda against Türkiye
- Parties agreed to establish Permanent Joint Mechanism, which includes law, intelligence, security officials, for implementation of memorandum
- Finland, Sweden will not provide support to YPG/PYD, offshoots of PKK terror group, and FETO, reject terrorism in all its forms
- Finland, Sweden will address Türkiye’s pending deportation or extradition requests of terror suspects expeditiously: Memorandum
- Türkiye, Finland, Sweden confirm that now there are no national arms embargoes in place between them
- Parties to establish cooperation mechanism at all gov’t levels, including law enforcement, intelligence, to enhance cooperation on counterterrorism, organized crime
- Finland, Sweden will investigate, interdict any financing, recruitment activities of PKK, all other terrorist organizations, their extensions:
- For implementation of these steps, Türkiye, Finland, Sweden will establish Permanent Joint Mechanism:
- Türkiye confirms its long-standing support for NATO’s Open Door policy, agrees to support at Madrid Summit invitation of Finland, Sweden to become NATO members
