Greece’s Civil Protection sent a message via emergency line 112 on Saturday evening to the residents of the islands of Karpathos, Kasos, Rhodes, Halki and Kastellorizo. The message warns citizens of possible dangerous weather phenomena in the next 24 hours in their area and calls on them to avoid unnecessary travel.
The message states:
“Activation 112. Possible dangerous weather phenomena in the next 24 hours in Karpathos and Kasos. Avoid unnecessary movements – Follow the instructions of the authorities.”

The spokesman of the Fire Service told state broadcaster ERT, that the intense weather phenomena are expected to hit the Dodecanese.
Earlier on Saturday, the bad weather front moving from West to the East hit the island of Crete where torrential rainfalls flooded several areas in and around Heraklio, Agia Pelagia and other villages in less than two hours,causing big destruction.
A 50-year-old man died when his car was swept away from the rushing waters, one 48-year-old woman is still missing on Saturday evening.
Over 150 vehicles were swept away and/or damaged, local authorities told ERT TV.some 15 cars were at the bottom of the sea, raising fears there maybe people inside.
