A 34-year-old owner of an accommodation in Halkidiki is accused of installing hidden cameras, who allegedly illegally recorded the private moments of vacationers staying there.
Investigation by Greek Police was initiated after a complaint by a young couple, at the end of September 2022, they found a camera in a room where they had spent the night.
According to an announcement by police, during the investigation it was found that the 34-year-old had recorded 27 people, the vast majority of them Greek and foreign tourists, of which 13 people have been identified.
It is noted that so far this material recorded by the six hidden cameras does not appear to have been circulated on the Internet.
A case file was filed against the owner, which will be forwarded to the Halkidiki First Instance Prosecutor’s Office, for violations of the legislation on personal data and the privacy of telephone communication and verbal conversation.
According to the same announcement, in an on-site search of the premises of the tourist accommodation, six “hidden” cameras, simulating mobile phone chargers, eight memory cards, a closed-circuit outdoor surveillance recorder, a digital data storage unit, a portable electronic computer, a tablet device and a mobile phone were found and confiscated, reports new website tvxs.gr.
