Waiter on Zakynthos saves woman with Heimlich maneuver (video)

Τhe quick and skilled intervention of a waiter managed to save the life of a woman who was choking on her food in a restaurant on the island of Zakynthos. With a Heimlich maneuver, waiter Nikos Solomos managed to relief the woman.

The incident happened in a restaurant in Kalamaki, when a woman could not breathe, as she had choked on her food.

Everything was going smoothly at a restaurant in Zakynthos, with tables full of holidaymakers enjoying its food, when a woman choked on her food and couldn’t breathe.

The restaurant owner realized very quickly what had happened and tried to help the woman. But it was waiter Nikos Solomos who also rushed to help and started to perform the life-saving Heimlich maneuver saving the woman from the worst.

In the meantime, the owner had called the ambulance service and when a vehicle arrived transferred the woman to the hospital.

The Heimlich maneuver or grip is a first aid technique for rescuing a person who is in danger of suffocation due to an obstruction of the respiratory tract by a foreign body (e.g. bite, egg, button, coin, bottle cap, shells, etc.).
