A 38-year-old Bulgarian man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon, wanted on two warrants for involvement in a series of illegal adoptions.
According to Greek Police, the man, along with accomplices, facilitated the transfer of pregnant women from Bulgaria to Athens and Katerini, northern Greece between 2015 and 2016.
He was involved in at least six cases of illegal adoptions with the intent of profiting from the illegal adoption of the women’s newborns by families in exchange for payment.
The arrested man was brought before the Prosecutor’s Office.
