Athens taxi on 24h strike on Feb 19

The Attica Taxi Drivers Union (SATA) has announced a 24-hour strike for Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

In its announcement, SATA demands:

“Free entry of Taxis in special traffic lanes (bus lanes)

To provide a solution to the problem of interception of work by companies with rental cars with a driver.

To stop the illegal discounts – offers of Uber and Bolt that intentionally violate the law (do not comply with the legal fare set by the State) and intensify unfair competition

To implement the amendment that prohibits the collection of the fare from any intermediary company (Law 4607/2019 article 75)

Proper implementation of the digital platform for E.I.X. contracts and creation of a registry for rentals with a driver. Increase the minimum contract price of E.I.X. by 33%

Clear separation of the services provided by Taxi and rental cars with a driver. Only taxis provide urban transportation. With a taxi, the passenger makes urban transportation.

Abolition of the controversial provisions of the new tax law and immediate implementation of a tax-free limit of 12,000 euros

Abolition of the mandatory registration of new Taxi cars only zero-emissions from 2026. Our proposal is to postpone this obligation to 2035.

Free registration of multi-seater E.D.X. Taxis & used 5-year-old cars.

“The SATA presidency requests the practical support of the Panhellenic Federation in this fair fight. “We urge POEITA and all taxi unions in the country to participate with any action in the strike mobilization of February 19,” the SATA statement concludes.
