A 51-year-old Norwegian tourist died in the early hours of Wednesday after he fell from the balcony on the fourth floor balcony of a hotel in Rhodes, where he was staying together with his partner.
According to public broadcaster ERT, the man is believed to have lost his balance due to alcohol consumption.
The tragic incident was witnessed by another resident of the hotel.
Police and the Ambulance Service were immediately called to transport the man to the Rhodes Hospital. there doctors could only pronounce him dead.
According local media rodiaki.gr, the man used to spend his vacations on the island, always booked at the same hotel and this time he had come with his partner and her mother.
Prior to the fall from the balcony, the couple gone out to have fun and according to information, they had consumed a quantity of alcohol. When they returned to the hotel, the same information stated that there was verbal tension between them, the local media reported.
At approximately 5:30 am on Wednesday, the 51-year-old went out onto the balcony and hung himself from it, but he was unable to hold on and eventually fell into the void.
Rhodes Police Department are conducting a preliminary investigation into the case, while a forensic examination has been ordered.
It is worth noting that based on the same information, another resident of the hotel from the floor below saw the 51-year-old Norwegian man falling, while his partner is unable to remember anything about the incident, rodiaki,gr reported.
