Greece has increased security measures at US and Israeli facilities that could possibly fall targets to terrorist attacks in Attica and Crete.
Units of the Greek Police (ELAS) have been set on alert since yesterday, Saturday, February 28, 2026, in order to activate emergency security plans against the backdrop of the war in Iran.
According to media information, emergency security measures are already being taken at American and Israeli targets in both Attica and the island of Crete. The increased surveillance concerns critical infrastructure and facilities that are considered sensitive.
Emergency measures are also being taken at Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” as well as at other major airports in the country.
By implementing these specific measures, the Greek authorities seek to prevent any possibility of a terrorist attack either by a domestic group or by a group of foreigners who are in Greece.
