Greek Mirage 2000 Crashed into the Sea off Samos

A double-seater Mirage 2000 of the Hellenic Air Force crashed into the sea area off the island of Samos on Thursday. The two pilots used the ejector seats to escape the falling aircraft. They were later rescued and are been transported on a C-130 to Athens military hospital. The Mirage was on training flight together with three other air fighters of the Hellenic Air Force. The accident occurred one day after a Greek F-16 got fire while taking off from Souda air base on the island of Crete.

And bang! there goes another 16 million euro down the drain. Yesterday a F16 on fire. Woosh, another 14 million.
I wonder, how many waterbombers could have been made operational extra, on top of the lousy 8 out of 44(?) that are on standby at the beginning of the fire season?
Glad to see we have our priorities in order.
“Oh no, wait!” will someone say, “we need to keep on flying those things or the Turks might come and occupy us!” Well, it’s election time in Turkey, so there is always the off chance… But hey, let’s look at it this way: when Turkey occupies Greece, our debt will be zero in one foul swoop! Won’t it?
