Athens: Nice Things to Do on Friday, Sept 16
Posted by keeptalkinggreece in Culture
I’ve been thinking to start today’s posts with something pleasant, because the rest of the news is really crap in terms of economy, austerity, price hikes and public outrage is growing. So we definitely need something to distract us from the tax office orders and our empty wallets. Something nice to relax. So here’s is what I picked up for this Friday night and thus it’s free of charge!
On the occasion of the death of Maria Callas, the Greek National Opera offers a spectacle of arias at the garden of the Archaeological Museum (Patision Str, next to Polytechnical School) at 9 pm.
Mikis Theodorakis has a “Creativity and Resistance” Concert at the Fencing Building near the old Athens airport (Hellinikon). It starts with a speech of him at 8 pm.
For internet start-up there is the famous OpenCafe meeting for learning new things, exchange of ideas and networking. Benaki Museum, Pireos Street 138. Not for Greeks only
. It starts at 6 pm at the Museum Cafe with friendly chat, speeches begin at 7 pm and later there is intensive networking with geeks and marketeers, tech and business developers, businessmen and investors, bloggers and journalists.
If nothing of these proposals meet your needs, then just take a long walk at the sea side and enjoy a nice Friday night!
