Thessaloniki: Christmas Lights “Protest” the Poll-Tax!

With an original idea, a Greek taxpayer decided to protest the “emergency property tax”  via the electricity bills. He decided to combine his opposition with the festive spirit and placed on the roof of his home the Christmas lights in a way that they form the sentence “No To Poll-Taxes”.

According to news portal the best.gr  many passersby stopped to admire the imaginative and humorous Christmas protest and took pictures. Some said, about a ‘hilarious and aesthetic touch that gives joy to the neighborhood” in Kalamaria suburb of Thessaloniki.

The ’emergency property tax’ and the ’emergency solidarity tax’ that arrived in December economically kneeled many households that look ahead to the worst Chrismas in their lives.
