Death toll rises to 94 after one more victim of Athens fires dies in hospital

Death toll in Athens wildfires rose to 94, after one more fire victim died in the hospital late on Friday night. The 57-year-old woman was in Thriaseio Hospital in Athens and she was not in intensive care unit.

Nineteen days after the deadly fires in Mati and Neos Voutzas in East Attica and 31 people are reportedly still hospitalized.

Eight of the injured are in intensive care units with five to be intubated.

Also a child remains in a children’s hospital,  with the health condition to be described as good.

Two bodies remain unidentified as no relatives has sought for them. The two bodies belong to men; one is recognizable with few burn injuries, the other is charred. The second body belongs to an elderly man and was found in Neos Voutzas. The first body belongs to a man 40-50 years old, who was found close to the cars that were burned down in one of the main streets of Mati. The man was barefoot and wore a bathing suit. There is no missing declaration for him.

One person remains missing. Authorities reportedly suggest the elderly body may be the missing persons. The missing declaration was made by a friend.

For both bodies DNA samples are available, however, their identification is difficult to impossible if no relatives give samples for comparison.
