The fires in the Magnisia Prefecture in Central Greece claimed the lives of two people on Wednesday.
Firefighters recovered the body of a man which they found in a burned forest short before 8 o’ clock in the evening.
The man is believed to be a 46-year-old missing shepherd who moved out to a pen to bring his 20 sheep in safety, when the fire broke out in Agios Georgios Ferron near Velestino.
His pen was reportedly burned down to ashes.
In Horostasi Almyrou near the village of Platanos, an elderly woman was burned alive and was found in a trailer home.
A fire had broke out in the area earlier on Wednesday.it was her relatives who were searching for her and sent an ambulance in the area.
A man also in the area was taken to hospital with respiratory problems.
The mayor of Almyros reportedly told media that residents had been told to evacuate.
With these two tragedies on Wednesday, the number of deaths due fires rises to 5.
Two Greek pilots died on Tuesday while on duty to extinguished a wildfire in south Evia, while another shepherd was found charred in hut. He also went to rescue his animals from the fire that broke out on Sunday and was missing since then.
