Greece raises passengers’ cruise fees for Mykonos, Santorini & other islands

Starting on July 21, 2025, Greece is implementing new cruise fees for passengers designed to manage over-tourism in popular islands and fund infrastructure improvements.

The fee charge for cruise passengers visiting Mykonos and Santorini is 20 euros during the high season – June 1 to September 30 -.

Passengers visiting other islands will be charged 5 euros.

It should be noted that the fee is charged for every port the passengers will visit.

Outside the high season all fees are reduced.

Fees charge in details

  • High Season (June 1 – September 30):
    • Santorini and Mykonos: €20 per passenger.
    • All other Greek ports: €5 per passenger.
  • Mid-Season (April 1 – May 31 & October 1 – 31):
    • Santorini and Mykonos: €12 per passenger.
    • All other Greek ports: €3 per passenger.
  • Low Season (November 1 – March 31):
    • Santorini and Mykonos: €4 per passenger.
    • All other Greek ports: €1 per passenger.
State broadcaster ERT reported that cruise companies incorporate the fees into the cruise fares and then handle the payments to the Greek government.

It is estimated that the new fees will bring revenues of estimated 50 million euros, while 1/3 of them will go to the municipalities of the said islands.

Greece had announced rise of fees for cruise passengers and tourist accommodation in September 2024, while cruise companies had asked the government to postpone the fees rise to 2026.
