Taxi drivers in Athens extend strike until Friday morning, Dec 5

Taxi drivers in Athens and Attica have announced that they will extend for another 24 hours, until Friday, December 5, 2025,  the strike that began yesterday , Tuesday, and was initially scheduled for 48 hours.

According to an announcement of the Athens/Attica Taxi drivers union SATA,  the new 24-hour strike will be held on Thursday, December 4, and will end at 6 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025.

At the same time, the Panhellenic Federation of Professional Taxi Drivers warns of new strike mobilizations after the Christmas holidays.

Earlier on Wednesday, tension prevailed outside the Ministry of Transport, between taxi drivers and police forces when the first attempted to enter the ministry premises and speak to those in charge. Police made limited use of tear gas, media reported.

It is recalled that the demands of the Board of Directors are as follows:

Extension of the electric mobility obligation until 2035.
Dealing with unfair competition caused by multinational applications.
Immediate decisions to crack down on project theft in the sector by the EIX. Increase in the time charge and the minimum rent for the entire territory.
Renegotiation for the entry of loaded taxis into special lanes.
Implementation of all pending issues of the fundraising bill.
Tariff adjustment.
Fair tax treatment.
